MUM AND BABY DANCE
Looking for a fun and active way to bond with your baby while getting a gentle workout? Our Mum and Baby Dance Class is the perfect solution! These classes are designed to offer mums the chance to move, connect, and enjoy time with their little ones in slings—all while dancing to energizing and fun tunes.
WHY CHOOSE MUM AND BABY DANCE
Mum and baby dance is a babywearing workout where mums can dance while keeping their baby close in a supportive sling or carrier. With the baby snug and safe, you’ll follow easy-to-learn dance routines set to upbeat music, perfect for mums of all fitness levels. It’s not only a great way to exercise, but also an opportunity to strengthen the bond between you and your baby. But don’t worry, if you feel baby is getting too heavy or you need a little break you are always welcome to put them down and continue dancing!
BENEFITS OF MUM AND BABY DANCE
Dancing with your baby in a sling promotes closeness and attachment and is most likely your baby’s favourite place! Mum and baby dance can also help you build some strength and fitness without overexertion; our routines are low-impact and cater to postnatal recovery. Our classes are a wonderful way to socialize and connect with other local mums in a relaxed and supportive environment. Not only will dancing help lift your mood, ease stress, babies love the gentle rocking motion of dance and being close to their mum!
WHAT TO EXPECT IN OUR CLASSES
Each class begins with a gentle warm-up, followed by a series of fun dance moves and simple choreography. We end with a cool-down and stretch session. From lively pop songs to calming rhythms, we choose music that both mums and babies will enjoy. Whether you're a seasoned dancer or a total beginner, these classes are designed to accommodate all fitness levels and dance abilities. All you need is your baby in a carrier or sling and a willingness to have fun!

SAFETY GUIDELINES
Your and your baby’s safety is our priority. We ensure that all dance routines are safe for postnatal mums and suitable for babies. It is important that all slings are fitted correctly and it is your responsibility to ensure this. As a guideline slings should follow TICKS:

T – Tight. – Your carrier should hold baby tight on your chest, so baby is comfortable and well supported. Any slumping can hinder their ability to breathe.
I – In view at all times – You should always be able to see your baby’s face. You should never have to pull back fabric to see baby.
C – Close enough to kiss. Your baby should be as close as possible to your chin so when you bend your head you can kiss them on the head or forehead.
K – Keep chin off the chest. – turn babies head so they can breathe freely, and head is not restricted. Make sure there is at least 1 finger width under your baby’s chin.
S – Supported back. – In an upright carrier baby should be held comfortably so their back does not slump. The spine should remain in a neutral position. To test this gently push on baby’s back. They should not uncurl or move closer to your body.

Disclaimer: Your teacher Faith is not trained in sling wearing and therefore it is your responsibility to ensure you have a correct fitting sling and baby remains safe.

Prior to class it is essential you have had your 6-8 week GP check. If you have had a c – section you may wish to wait until your scar has fully healed and sling wearing feels comfortable. If baby becomes too heavy during the class you are welcome to put them down, just bring a cosy blanket!
