ABOUT ME

I am a compassionate and dedicated paediatric nurse with over 11 years of experience working with mums, bumps and babies, coupled with a deep passion for yoga and holistic wellness. I am also a mum of 2 bringing first-hand knowledge and experience to the joys and challenges parenting brings. As a mum, a registered nurse and a certified yoga instructor, I bring a unique blend of medical expertise, experience and mindfulness practices to my teaching, fostering a holistic approach to health and well-being.

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

I have worked in various healthcare settings, including paediatric neuroscience and rehab, HDU and burns, NICU and currently as a public health nurse working in the community with new mums and babies. My experience has equipped me with a deep understanding of the physical and emotional needs of patients, children and families which translates seamlessly into my approach to yoga instruction and the relationship I try to build with each of my yogi mums. I have a huge passion and curiosity around babies and believe the bonds we have with our baby impacts them for the whole of their lives. I have worked closely with the maternity and womens health sector for most of my career and have undertaken lots of further training including Critical care of the neonate and the Brazelton NBO which recognises and interprets how newborns are communicating with us. 

WELLNESS JOURNEY

My journey into yoga began when I was pregnant myself and I attended pregnancy yoga. Over the years I dabbled in home yoga but in 2021 I began taking a regular class for my personal practice to help maintain my mental and physical health. Inspired by the transformative power of yoga and my belief in how it can hugely benefit in pregnancy and postnatally, I pursued formal training specialising in pregnancy and postnatal yoga and became a certified yoga teacher. I am also trained in toddler and family yoga. I then undertook training to become a Baby massage instructor with To Baby and Beyond. This course offered another skill set which is of huge benefit to building the bond between mother and baby. 

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

Combining my medical knowledge with a holistic approach to pregnancy and parenting wellness I focus on creating balanced and accessible classes that promote overall well-being. My classes are designed to support physical health, mental clarity, and emotional resilience plus help to build and strengthen the bond between you and your baby. Understanding the unique needs of each individual, I provide personalized guidance and modifications, ensuring a safe and inclusive practice for everyone. I also aim for Calm Beginnings to be a safe, supportive and friendly community for you to meet other mums and make friends.
